To set up the working with data science (coding part) we have to setup Anaconda distribution of
Python and R


In this post, we will be covering the basics of data science and also introducing the anaconda
that comes handy with Jupiter and other essential tools that are necessary to build up the Neural
Networking model.

Anaconda and its installation

Anaconda is an open source conveyance of the Python and R programming dialects and it is

Setting up Anaconda and Jupyter Notebook on Ubuntu

Anaconda is a free distribution and hence it is open source and available to be installed on
Ubuntu, Windows and MacOS.

Installation for Ubuntu

1. Install anaconda installer bash script
2. Verify, install and Activate the package.

Use curl to download the bash script

curl -O https://repo.continuum.io/archive/Anaconda3-5.0.1-Linux-
x86_64.sh

verify the integrity of the package

sha256sum Anaconda3-5.0.1-Linux-x86_64.sh


This will ensure the integrity and in order to complete installation follow the given commands
Run the downloaded Script

bash Anaconda3-5.0.1-Linux-x86_64.sh


This will start the installation process and seeks permission
Press Enter and Yes as the system wants your permission to complete the installation
This will complete the installation and seeks for adding a path to location so that conda command
could be used Type Yes
Type

source ~/.bashrc


to activate the installation
hence the installation is complete.

Using it inbuilt software directly from Terminal
Type


Jupyter Notebook


Directly from terminal, it will open a localhost on your default web browser that is used to make
Python projects and saving as notebook format easy to handle and manage python programs,
essential for Data Science.

Installation on Windows and MacOS

This could be directly downloaded and installed on Windows and MacOS from the following

https://www.anaconda.com/distribution/

The setup wizard will complete the installation and it could be launched from desktop by visiting
Anaconda Navigator app which opens all of its software in a detailed GUI manner.
